Baltimore Street Hockey Tournament, Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals and Baltimore City Recreation and Parks partnered to host the tenth Baltimore Street Hockey Tournament, which is one of several youth hockey programs supported by the Capitals across the Washington, D.C. region. I collaborated closely with Monumental Sports and the Washington Capitals to create a logo that captures the spirit of Maryland and youth hockey, while also being versatile enough to be updated and reused annually.
My design approach was centered around creating a logo that was both modern and timeless, featuring clean lines and bold colors that would appeal to people of all ages. I incorporated elements that reflect the state of Maryland, such as the outline of the state and the Baltimore skyline, to create a strong sense of place and pride. The logo also features a hockey puck and stick, which symbolize the sport and its significance to the tournament.
To ensure that the logo was inclusive and representative of the community, whose stakeholders, include representatives from the Capitals, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, and local youth hockey organization.
The logo was successfully used in promotional materials, giveaways, and signage for the tournament.
